I know am a goal scoring machine – Timo Werner tries to explain why he plays better for Germany than Chelsea.

Timo Werner got on the scoresheet for Germany yesterday, once again showing better form with his country than he had with his club, where he can’t get regular game time at the moment.

He was asked about that curious difference after the game, and in quotes picked up by Nizaar Kinsella, he claimed that the style of play for his national team suited him better.

“I feel very comfortable here” he said CaughtOffside quote the winger as saying, clearly implying that he doesn’t feel comfortable at Chelsea.

That’s a shame. He’s literally been tried every which way at club level, playing up top, playing left, playing right, playing with a partner and playing alone.

If he’s not comfortable in any of those, perhaps it’s time we all accepted he’s just not going to be the deadly attacker we all hoped he would be for us in the end, and he might be better off moving on.
