What a night of football that was!
Chelsea and Bayern left with lots of work to do as Real Madrid and Villarreal have seized the advantage. Plenty still to play for, though, and GOAL will have you covered all the way throigh.
Until next time!
Tuchel all but concedes tie is over

“No, not at the moment. No,” Tuchel said when asked if he believed Chelsea were still in it.
“We have to find out level back. I don’t know where it is since the international break. The first half is a repetition of the second half against Brentford in a quarter-final against Real Madrid. So far off our level in absolutely everything the game demands, we can’t expect a result from this kind of performance.
“We have to get things ready for Saturday. Not think about the Bernabeu today. Saturday we face Southampton and if we continue to play like this, we will not get a point.”
Thomas Muller has acknowledged that Bayern were lucky to escape with only a one-goal defeat.
“We weren’t really able to do something today, we did not play the match we wanted,” he told DAZN.
“Offensively, we did not have the power, we did not create that many chances.
“We’ll take the 1-0 because it could have been worse. Right now, we need to prepare for the second leg and fight back.”
‘Play like this and we’ll get hammered in Madrid’

“It is a heavy loss. It was one of the worst first halves that I saw from us here at Stamford Bridge,” Thomas Tuchel told BT Sport. “Individually and as a team it was by far not enough. It was far from our standards and then you lose games.
“No, we don’t have to go to Madrid we have to go Southampton and it is very important to process this. It is crucial that we go to Southampton. If we keep playing like this we will lose at Southampton and then we will get hammered at Bernabeu.”
Benzema’s magic night

What a performance that was from Karim Benzema, huh?
“They’re magic nights, like the other day at the Bernabeu against Paris,” he said on Spanish TV after the match. “Today we came out to win, to show we’re Real Madrid. Things worked out well for us as we played well, from the first minute to the last.
“They’re very important goals. I’m happiest to have scored the third as I missed one in the first half and I was thinking about that chance because it’s very important to score goals. Then I got another and I’m very happy.”

“This is the business end and he is still scoring goals. He has shot his team to the top of the league. They are flying and he is the talisman,” Rio Ferdinant said on BT Sport.
“When Cristiano Ronaldo was there Benzema had the humility to sit in the background because he knew what it meant to the team but now he has come out of the shadows.
“He is 34 and he is the best number nine in the world. He is another level. Goals, assists, link up play, slowing the game down.”
Regrets for Villarreal?

Villarreal could have easily won this by a few goals, if not for a few missed chances and one goal ruled out.
Will they regret it after they visit Munich next week?
